Hostgator (The one I recommend to friends!)

I must admit some bias with the first review as I have personally used Hostgator since I came across them a few years ago, they have a package to suit everybody.

The Baby and Swamp packages allow unlimited domains (add on), which makes a lot of sense if you have multiple websites. They use Cpanel, which is the best control panel around. You get Fantastico script installer which will install most of the popular open source scripts with few clicks.

They support PHP4 & 5, SSH, Cron jobs, Python, Ruby On Rails etc. Also, all the packages include enough POP3 accounts (20 for Hatchling and unlimited for others).

The price is more than reasonable for the features and space/bandwidth provided.

What makes hostgator stand out from the crowd is their excellent support and customer friendliness. They offer 24/7/365 toll free support. In addition, they have Ticket System, Knowledge base, tutorials etc. Also they have an active forum which helps in fixing most normal issues. Support tickets are fast, often response will be made in less couple of hours. If you are not satisfied with the support, you could even get hostgator president Brent Oxley to personally take a look at your problem!

FatCow

FatCow hosting company has an unusual name, but what they offer is fairly typical when compared to the other web hosts we’ve reviewed. However, the folks at FatCow do have a certain charm, and you can see it all over their website. Particularly endearing are all the little cow jokes and nicknames that play a role in their service. But beyond fun, FatCow representatives pride themselves on straightforward service without the techno-talk and complicated service plans.

Overall, Fatcow hosting will meet most needs of a small to medium-sized business. The price is affordable; they also have a 30-day money back guarantee. To customize your plan, FatCow offers add-ons at additional cost. Be sure to compare plans before you purchase however, particularly if you find that you need FatCow’s add-ons.

Bluehost

Bluehost was founded in 1996, making them one of the oldest web hosting providers still operating. The fact that they have managed to survive in the often cut-throat web hosting business says a lot about the quality of services that they provide. Many lesser companies have come and gone in the years that Bluehost has been providing quality solutions to web-masters.

As you would expect from a company that has been in business for as long as Bluehost, their network infrastructure is first-class.

They also offer Cpanel on all of their packages with the aptly named ‘Fantastico’ that allows you to install most of the popular scripts like Wordpress in a couple of clicks.

The Bluehost Platinum Pak plan offers 1500GB of disk storage space, 15000GB of data transfer / bandwidth and a full set of features for the all inclusive price of $6.95 per month.

It is worth noting that Bluehost allows you to host an unlimited number of full domains and an unlimited number of sub-domains under the one account.

Host Monster

Hostmonster hosting is one of my favorite budget Cpanel hosting plans, offering a good balance between hosting feature, quality and pricing.

Thus I also recommend hostmonster hosting for ecommerce and forum web hosting. Hostmonster hosting had been voted the best budget unlimited domain hosting

Hostmonster is also one of the fastest growing web hosting companies on the web! If you scan the web you will find nothing but rave reviews about this host. HostMonster offers unlimited web hosting, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited domains, and unlimited email accounts for a very competitive rate.

It is a sister brand to Bluehost so if you are thinking of going down this route I would check them out side by side.
